My Take on the Brown-on-Roszival Hit

I'm sure this is news to none of you, as the entire hockey world is buzzing after the crazy overtime game that saw the Los Angeles Kings defeat the Phoenix Coyotes 4-3 in Game 5, sending the Kings to the Stanley Cup Finals. In that overtime, we also saw a questionable hit, where Kings captain Dustin Brown collided with Coyotes winger Michal Roszival in a knee-on-knee hit. The next face-off after the play, Kings winger Dustin Penner scored the overtime-winning goal, sending the Kings to the Stanley Cup Finals, and making the Phoenix Coyotes and their finals incredibly irate. Certainly a questionable hit such as this will be looked at by the Department of Player Safety. But the question is: will Dustin Brown receive supplementary discipline for the hit? Take a look for yourselves:
While this is a questionable hit, I believe that is not a play that will require supplementary discipline. The play happened so quickly, as Brown did not have enough time to change his position to avoid contact with Roszival. Roszival and Brown were both going at full speed across the blue line. Slow motion does not do this play any justice, as it makes the hit seem intentional. Nothing changes in Brown's position that indicates that he stuck out his knee intentionally to hit Roszival. His knee did not change its position during the entire play. It just happened to catch Roszival's knee in a bad spot. It's certain that everyone has a different opinion on the hit, but one thing is definite in this situation, and it's that Dustin Brown is the most hated man in Phoenix right now.
