Yesterday morning, the Montreal Canadiens announced that they have named Marc Bergevin as their new general manager. It was reported that Pierre McGuire, an analyst with NBC Sports, was also up for the job. In fact, he was the runner-up to Bergevin. It was also reported that Habs owner Geoff Molson called McGuire yesterday to inform him that he did not get the job.
This infuriated me, and here's why: Pierre McGuire is painful to watch and listen to, plain and simple. He completely ruins the atmosphere that Mike "Doc" Emrick brings to the table every night for NBC Sports. McGuire is beyond creepy (search him on YouTube and you'll agree), and he is jumps on every bandwagon he can possibly get on. For example, during Game 2 between the Devils and the Flyers, he was an avid Flyers fan when the Flyers played well during the first few minutes of the game. When the Devils took over the game, he became obsessed with complimenting players on the Devils. It did not go both ways for the entire game.
So, unfortunately we still have to listen to and watch Pierre McGuire on NBC Sports. I honestly don't know how much more of this man I can take. I'm about one more dumb comment from him away from muting my television when he is on. Yesterday was the day that we came so close, but yet, so far from getting rid of this moron from our televisions.
