Since Chris Kreider joined the New York Rangers in the first round of the playoffs, he has been lights-out. After winning the national championship with Boston College, Kreider is quickly making an impact in the NHL. Kreider, a former Rangers first round draft pick, signed a three year entry level contract with the team during the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Kreider's first goal came in Game 6 against the Ottawa Senators, and he was a huge factor in the Rangers' victory over the Senators in Game 7.
Moving on to the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals this afternoon, against the Washington Capitals, Kreider scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win. Kreider's goal came with his blazing speed, taking him past the Washington defense, where he blasted a slap shot past Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby. This play by Chris Kreider was extremely impressive, as his speed was a highlight all by itself. Kreider is 6'4", so it is very strange to see such a big player with speed like this. Kreider is quickly becoming one of the biggest stories of the playoffs. It seems as though everyone wants this kid to succeed.
He is succeeding thus far, and it appears as though he is here to stay. Kreider has had to earn every shift he has gotten, making his way to playing on the second line in only a matter of a few games. And he's young, too, at only the age of 20, so he is going to get bigger and better with time. Kreider has a bright future ahead of him, and it's safe to bet that we will see him in the NHL for a long time.
